We had our first round of cool weather last week, when the temperatures dipped down into the 50s overnight and the daytime was sunny and breezy.
It was so beautiful, and it was such a welcomed reprieve from the hot, muggy weather we’ve been having.
That first taste of fall always makes me want to go ALL.IN with the fall decorating and…. Fall baking!
It’s just not enough for it to feel like fall. I want to taste it. Preferable while wrapped in a little blanket on my porch.
All this to say, that I’m seriously craving some pumpkin cookies right now.
Are you with me? Not into pumpkin? No worries!
This list of Fall cookies has all of the best fall flavors covered: we’ve got pumpkin cookies, apple cookies, maple cookies, some chai cookies, quite a few cookies with pecans, plenty of oats, and even some bourbon thrown in for fun.

Fall Pumpkin Cookies
Oh, yes. We’re starting with pumpkin. Even if you’re not a fan, there’s no denying that pumpkin is the star of the show when it comes to fall baking. And there are so many delicious pumpkin recipes that aren’t pumpkin pie! Give one of these pumpkin cookies a try and maybe you’ll be converted.
Pumpkin Cookies with Caramel Frosting
Try these pumpkin cookies with caramel icing if the cream cheese icing above isn’t your thing. Actually, now my gears are turning and I’m thinking a pumpkin cookie icing bar is in order, with lots of different delicious fall flavors to top your cookie with. Anyone?
Pumpkin Spice Latte Whoopie Pies
Fall Cookies with Apple
This is the time for fresh apples from the market. Or, if you’re lucky maybe you live near an apple orchard and can pick your own! We’re going to try to make it out apple picking this weekend and I will definitely be setting some aside for one of the recipes below.
Caramel Apple Cookies
All the deliciousness of a caramel apple baked into a delicious cookie. Enjoy!
Chewy Ginger Molasses Cookies
This is quite possibly the fall cookie recipe I’m most excited about making. Ginger molasses cookies are one of my all-time favorite cookies and this recipe requires 0 minutes of chill time. That’s right…you don’t have the chill the dough. Just add ingredients, combine, bake, and eat.
The Rest of the Fall Cookie Recipes
If spicy ginger and butter pecans are more your style, then this section is well worth the wait. The cookies below are a delicious mix of fall flavors that will have you so ready for fall you’ll be picking out sweaters (or your favorite flannel shirt), and planning a leaf hunt. Or, how about we just eat the cookie and call it a day, shall we?
Gingerdoodle Sandwich Cookies
Here’s a hybrid cookie for when you find yourself torn between making a snickerdoodle and a ginger cookie. It’s the one and only Gingerdoodle! And, since you’re already going a little crazy with the whole two-cookies-in-one thing, you may as well go all out and whip together some of that cinnamon buttercream frosting for your own gingerdoodle cookie sandwich.
Pear Thumbprint Cookies
I had to include a pear recipe in here because I absolutely love pears in the fall. And that’s about the only time. But for real, there’s nothing better than a delicious fall pear (except for maybe an August peach, but I digress). This recipe actually uses pear preserves, but still…there’s definitely pear in it, so go forth and make this cookie.
Butter Pecan Cookies
This is my husband’s favorite cookie, so I know I’ll be whipping up a few batches before the season is over. Just a few notes: you’ll need to brown some butter to make these, and they have to chill for a gut-wrenchingly long 2 hours! But, they’ll be worth it. Promise.
Maple Sugar Cookies
You probably have everything you need to make these cookies in your pantry right now. The dough does require about 30 minutes in the fridge, but it’s otherwise a pretty simple and straightforward recipe with some delicious cookies to show for it.
Brown Butter Bourbon Pecan & Chocolate Chip Cookies
As if the butter pecan cookie I linked to earlier wasn’t enough, Ashley from Baker by Nature had to go and turn things up a few notches and make a sinfully delicious cookie with bourbon AND chocolate pieces. Yum-O!
Are you singing about fall yet? Are you ready to make some delicious fall cookies? Me too!
